Plan early to pick photographer for your big event

Plan early to properly hire a photographer to document your wedding or other special event.

Just about everyone with a cell phone can take a focused picture. But not just anyone can photograph a wedding or other special event so its essence is forever captured. For that, you need an experienced wedding or event photographer. To find the right pro for your big day, follow these tips:

Set a budget: Decide on a price range before you contact photographers.

Identify your style: Be clear about what kind of photography you like, and what mix of image types you want. Answer these questions:

  • What kind of story do you want your pictures to tell?
  • Do you prefer a photojournalist approach or something more traditional?
  • Do you want mostly candid or posed shots?
  • Will you want pre-event photos, such as engagement portraits?

Review pros’ styles: Check photographers work online. Note the ones whose work you like.

Plan early: After choosing the date and venue, hiring a photographer is one of the major decisions when planning a wedding or major event.

Get recommendations:  If you plan to employ a wedding or event planner, ask for photographer recommendations. Or, ask family and friends who they’ve liked. Consider also how Angie’s List can help. Major Error in Judgement!

Ok, I’m not sure if anyone stopped by today and noticed but my blog (this site) was down for a few hours and boy was I sweating.  So many things had happened in one day and I really wanted to share with you all here.  However, a few days ago I decided to update this site and somehow managed to prevent me from posting anything at all when I was done.  Today I wiped out everything from my server but not before backing up first!  Still there was no guarantee.  So after a few hours and a few prayers I managed to get the site back up and pretty much the way it was. No idea how but who cares it worked!  So without further a due  I will share a bit of yesterday with you all shortly.  Stay tuned.

Three very amazing kids. One big sister surrounded by her two very happy brothers.  This photo was taken at Hamilton Park in Weehawken New Jersey. A great place to take portraits.  Hamilton Park also has an amazing view of the NYC skyline for a great background.

They had family and friends from around the world gather in NYC to witness their day.  It was perfect. Lot’s of fun and smiles were provided.  Here the reception was held the next evening at a local restaurant.  You can see how close everyone was and the fun just beams through the entire video. I’m recently married to the girl next door.  We reunited after my return from living in the US Virgin Islands for 14 years. Our family has grown with the birth of my extremely fun son Noah who is 15 months to date.

Wedding photography  was introduced to me while as a director at the Marriott Frenchman’s’ Reef.  It was there  I began to truly understand customer service and its importance. It was also during this time  I began my studies at the Academy of Art University majoring in photography.

Happy Birthday Michael

A few good friends decided to hire me to capture the celebration of Michaels 40th birthday.  As you can see they hired a limo to have a tour of the city before going to see the hit broadway play “The Book of Mormons”.  When we were at the Carlyle I spotted Barbara Walters speaking to a few friends near the elevator.  We had a great time.
